Mr. Edgardo L. Rivera-Rivera pursued his undergraduate studies at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Administration in 1986. Mr. Rivera obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico in 1990 and was admitted to the law practice and notary practice in Puerto Rico in 1991. Mr. Rivera is admitted to practice before the General Court of Justice of Puerto Rico, the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.
Mr. Rivera has over 30 years of experience in litigation, commercial and real estate transactions, corporate law, notary practice, and in providing counseling to individuals, as well as to private and government entities.
In recent years, Mr. Rivera has focused his practice on commercial and real estate transactions, business development, civil and administrative litigation.
Mrs. Lizabel M. Negrón Vargas pursued her undergraduate studies at Wellesley College, in Massachusetts, and the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Magna Cum Laude, in Political Science in 1986. In 1990, Mrs. Negrón obtained her Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, from the University of Puerto Rico, and was admitted to the law practice and notary practice in Puerto Rico. From 1991 to 1993, Mrs. Negrón worked as law clerk to Hon. Gilberto Gierbolini, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.
Mrs. Negrón Vargas is admitted to practice before the General Court of Justice of Puerto Rico, the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the U.S. Court for Federal Claims, and the U.S. Supreme Court. In addition, Mrs. Negrón has been a guest speaker on appellate procedures at the University of Puerto Rico, School of Law and the Department of Justice of Puerto Rico.
In recent years, Mrs. Negrón Vargas has focused her practice on state and federal appellate proceedings.
Mrs. Karina Murati Ferrer pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management in 1996. She obtained her Juris Doctor from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, School of Law in 2003, and was admitted to law and notary practice in Puerto Rico in 2005.
Mrs. Murati is admitted to practice before the General Court of Justice of Puerto Rico, the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Puerto Rico. Prior to joining The Rivera Group, Mrs. Murati worked for the Department of Justice from 2006 to 2009, as a Legal Advisor in the Assistant Secretary of Civil Affairs, Special Prosecutor, and Interim Director of Contracts.
Mrs. Murati has over 18 years of experience in the practice areas of transactions, damages, tax and administrative law. In recent years, Mrs. Murati has focused her practice on commercial transactions, as well as state and federal litigation.
Mrs. Gabriela I. Rivera-Negrón studied at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts, with a concentration in Ancient Civilizations and Foreign Languages in 2009. She also completed the requirements of a Master of Arts, with a concentration in Development Management and Public Policy from Georgetown University and the National University of San Martin, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Mrs. Rivera-Negrón obtained her Juris Doctor from the School of Law of the University of Puerto Rico in 2017 and was admitted to the law and notary practice in Puerto Rico in 2019. Additionally, Mrs. Rivera-Negrón is a Certified Mediator by the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico. Prior to joining The Rivera Group, Mrs. Rivera-Negrón worked as a Legislative Advisor in the Office of Legislative Advisors to the President of the Senate of Puerto Rico. She also has experience as a paralegal.
Mrs. Rivera-Negrón has focused her practice on notarial law, real estate transactions, contract law and estate planning.
Mrs. Camila N. Rivera-Negrón studied at College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts, with a concentration in Art History in 2011. Likewise, she completed the requirements for a minor concentration in Visual Arts and second minor concentration in the Italian Language. Mrs. Rivera-Negrón obtained her Juris Doctor from the School of Law of the University of Puerto Rico in 2018 and was admitted to the law practice in Puerto Rico in 2020. She was subsequently admitted to the notary practice in Puerto Rico in 2022. Mrs. Rivera-Negrón has over six years of experience as a paralegal, having worked in various law firms in San Juan prior to joining The Rivera Group in January 2018.
Mrs. Rivera-Negrón has primarily focused her practice on civil and commercial litigation before the judicial courts and administrative agencies in Puerto Rico.
Mr. Miguel A. Rivera Rivera pursued his undergraduate studies at University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree, Cum Laude, in Business Administration in 1958. Mr. Rivera later obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law in 1968, when he was also admitted to the law practice and notary practice in Puerto Rico. From 1958 until 1971, Mr. Rivera worked with Banco Popular de Puerto Rico, most of his tenure as Vice President in charge of the administration of its consumer credit operations. The last two years of his tenure served as President & General Manager of Popular Investment Co., Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Banco Popular, primarily engaged in underwriting term loans and investments to qualified small businesses with funds provided by Small Business Administration.
He was lecturer in training seminars, organized and sponsored by the American Institute of Banking and by The Center for Management Development of the University of Puerto Rico. He also organized and lectured on various seminars and short courses specially designed for training bank loan officers.
From 1971 up to December 31, 2012, Mr. Rivera engaged in law practice operating under the professional name of Rivera & Ortiz, LLP, specializing in taxation, corporate and business law, notarial practice and general civil law litigation. Throughout these years, he served as a closing attorney to various financial institutions. He joined our firm in 2013 and continued active until December 2016, when he voluntarily retired from the practice of law. Mr. Rivera passed away in January of 2019.
