Mr. Edgardo L. Rivera Rivera attended Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in Public Administration in 1986. In 1990, he earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico, School of Law. In 1991, he was admitted to the law practice law and notary practice in Puerto Rico.
Mr. Rivera Rivera is admitted to practice before the General Court of Justice of Puerto Rico, the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. As part of his notary practice, Mr. Rivera Rivera is also authorized to officiate marriages in Puerto Rico.
Mr. Rivera Rivera has more than 35 years of experience in litigation, commercial and real estate transactions, corporate law, notary practice, and providing counseling to individuals, as well as to private and governmental entities. In recent years, Mr. Rivera Rivera has focused his practice on commercial and real estate transactions, business development, and civil and administrative litigation.
Mrs. Lizabel M. Negrón Vargas attended Wellesley College in Massachusetts and the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, from which she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1986. In 1990, she earned her Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law, and was admitted to the law practice and notary practice in Puerto Rico. From 1991 to 1993, Mrs. Negrón Vargas worked as law clerk to Hon. Gilberto Gierbolini, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.
Mrs. Negrón Vargas is admitted to practice before the General Court of Justice of Puerto Rico, the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Mrs. Negrón Vargas has been a guest speaker on appellate procedures at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law, and the Department of Justice of Puerto Rico.
In recent years, Mrs. Negrón Vargas has primarily focused her practice on state and federal appellate proceedings.
Mrs. Karina Murati Ferrer attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management in 1996. In 2003, she earned her Juris Doctor from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. In 2005, she was admitted to law practice and notary practice in Puerto Rico.
Mrs. Murati Ferrer is admitted to practice before the General Court of Justice of Puerto Rico, the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Puerto Rico. Prior to joining The Rivera Group, she worked for the Department of Justice of Puerto Rico, from 2006 to 2019, as Legal Advisor to the Assistant Secretary of Civil Affairs, Special Prosecutor, and Interim Director of Contracts.
Mrs. Murati Ferrer has over 20 years of experience in the practice areas of transactions, corporate law, torts, tax law and administrative law. In addition, as part of her notary practice, Mrs. Murati Ferrer is authorized to officiate marriages in Puerto Rico. In recent years, Mrs. Murati Ferrer has primarily focused her practice on commercial transactions, corporate legal compliance, as well as state and federal litigation.
Mrs. Gabriela I. Rivera Negrón attended Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with two concentrations in Ancient Civilizations and Foreign Languages in 2009. She also completed the requirements of a Master of Arts degree with a concentration in Development Management and Public Policy from Georgetown University and the National University of San Martín, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2017, Mrs. Rivera Negrón earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law, and, in 2019, she was admitted to law practice and notary practice in Puerto Rico. Prior to joining The Rivera Group, Mrs. Rivera Negrón worked as a Legislative Advisor in the Office of Legislative Advisors to the President of the Senate of Puerto Rico. She also has several years of professional experience as a paralegal.

She also completed the requirements of two minor concentrations in Visual Arts and the Italian language. In 2018, Mrs. Rivera Negrón earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law. In 2020, she was admitted to law practice in Puerto Rico and, in 2022, was admitted to notary practice in Puerto Rico. Mrs. Rivera Negrón also has more than six years of professional experience as a paralegal, having worked at several law firms in San Juan prior to joining The Rivera Group in 2018.

Mr. Peter A. Colombani Tirado attended the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, Magna Cum Laude, in 2022. In 2025, he earned his Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law, and was admitted to law practice, ranking among the top 20 scores on the Puerto Rico General Bar Exam. In 2026, he was admitted to the notary practice, ranking among the top 10 scores on the Puerto Rico Notary Bar Exam.
While at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law, he was a member of the Criminal Legal Aid Clinic, where he gained practical litigation experience as a student attorney under the mentorship of Attorney Laura Coss Guzmán. Mr. Colombani Tirado also has professional experience as a paralegal.
Mr. Colombani Tirado is admitted to practice before the General Court of Justice of Puerto Rico, and has primarily focused his practice on estate planning, corporate law, contract law, as well as civil litigation before the judicial courts and administrative agencies in Puerto Rico.
Mr. Miguel A. Rivera Rivera pursued his undergraduate studies at University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree, Cum Laude, in Business Administration in 1958. Mr. Rivera later obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law in 1968, when he was also admitted to the law practice and notary practice in Puerto Rico. From 1958 until 1971, Mr. Rivera worked with Banco Popular de Puerto Rico, most of his tenure as Vice President in charge of the administration of its consumer credit operations. The last two years of his tenure served as President & General Manager of Popular Investment Co., Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Banco Popular, primarily engaged in underwriting term loans and investments to qualified small businesses with funds provided by Small Business Administration.
He was lecturer in training seminars, organized and sponsored by the American Institute of Banking and by The Center for Management Development of the University of Puerto Rico. He also organized and lectured on various seminars and short courses specially designed for training bank loan officers.
From 1971 up to December 31, 2012, Mr. Rivera engaged in law practice operating under the professional name of Rivera & Ortiz, LLP, specializing in taxation, corporate and business law, notarial practice and general civil law litigation. Throughout these years, he served as a closing attorney to various financial institutions. He joined our firm in 2013 and continued active until December 2016, when he voluntarily retired from the practice of law. Mr. Rivera passed away in January of 2019.
